Designing a garden is a bit like interior decoration. In the first place, you need to decide what you would like to achieve. Would you like to create a rural idyll or to create a place for the children to enjoy themselves? Only you can decide what your new garden should look like. Whatever you choose, we can give you professional advice on techniques, styles, planting schemes, materials and costs.

We are also happy to work with other designers, architects and developers.

Eden Gardens offers you a variety of specialist garden landscaping services in London and many other areas around. Our team works with you to understand your lifestyle and your visions of the perfect landscaped garden. Getting the right garden solution is a combination of creative ideas, practical gardening and YOU. At Eden Gardens, we will think about all aspects of your garden requirements to ensure you get the design that best meets your needs.

Design & Build Expertise

Our aim is to create a solution that is just right for your lifestyle which reflects the look and style of your home. By creating an assessment of how your garden can best function and budget parameters will enable us to create the best garden of your dreams.

How would you like to use your garden?

What type of decoration do you like – traditional, minimalist?

Do you want low maintenance?

Do you enjoy eating and drinking outside?

Do you have pets or children?

Do you want to add value to your property or a quick fix?

The process starts with you. We will arrange a consultation with our design director or senior landscape architect to discuss your ideas and scope of the project so that a summarised design can be formulated. This meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know how the garden will be used, any likes or dislikes and carry out a brief overview survey of the garden including taking some photographs and outline measurements. After this meeting, we will send you a design proposal and associated fees. We will summarise your brief as per our discussions during the consultation.

Before the design process begins the first step is for us to carry out a survey and analysis of the space. This will be carried out by our in house design team for smaller projects. For larger gardens and landscapes we will organise for a specialist land surveyor to collect all of the information required. This will include plotting boundaries, changes of level, any buildings, services, trees or existing features you wish to retain.

Following the survey, we will produce a simple concept plan of the garden design. This will show you the overall layout and scale of features that are proposed in the new garden. In some circumstances, we will produce some alternative layouts but our designers usually get a strong feel for the right way forward for the design following the consultation. We can discuss any amendments and tweaks to the design before we develop the master plan.

This is the final layout plan for the garden that will show the final position of the main features. This is what the landscapers will use to set out the garden and build.

We will produce ‘skeleton’ elevation drawings if required for any boundary features or structures within the design for the landscapers to quote and work from. Colour elevation drawings will be produced to show you how the garden will look when completed.

Construction drawings will be produced for any bespoke features in the design. For most designs, landscapers will build from the master plan and elevation drawings however construction drawings will be produced for more complex projects where it is necessary to produce formal tender documents.

A planting schedule will list all of the proposed planting, plant specification, quantities and sizes. This will be accompanied by a mood board with images of the selected planting. A precise planting plan can be produced showing the exact locations of the plants. In some circumstances, our preference is to produce a plant schedule and source the best plants available for the budget rather than meticulously plot plants on paper. The plants can then be set out on site and the exact positions were chosen to suit the shape and habit of the particular specimen

We can produce lighting plans to complement the garden design tailored to how you use the space. This includes the specification of fittings.

If you give the garden design the green light, we can arrange the landscaping build and any associated contractors such as electricians. Depending on the scope of the project, this could be done by our teams at Eden Gardens, or by your building contractor. When the hard landscaping (paving, walls etc.) is completed, our horticulturists will then plant the garden for you.

We can produce a maintenance schedule for the ongoing care of your garden. Some of our clients are happy to carry out their own garden maintenance as the majority of our designs are very low maintenance. Alternatively, Eden Gardens can provide you with a full follow up garden maintenance service.
